  1. Why are you surfing?

I really enjoy being in the water. I like the feeling to be part of the nature and learning about it. I do practice all kind of surfing: I like challenging myself in big waves as much as having fun in small conditions. It’s individual and collective at the same time. It’s teaching me respect and humbleness. 11 years ago, I slide for the first time across the transparent and glassy wall of a wave in a Philippine’s island. Since that time, I am hocked.

  1. What is the spirit of surfing in your opinion?

No matter if you are beginner or a very good surfer, the true Spirit of Surfing is the same.
It’s sharing friends and enjoying being in the ocean. Its being in love with the fragile and beautiful Nature and doing everything you can to protect her.
But it’s also challenging yourself, fighting your fears and being better and better each day to get more fun.
For me the spirit of surfing goes with Adventure: The Quest of the perfect wave. It does bring you far away, in the wildest places of the world, discovering different country, people, culture and nature.
It’s having your life devoted to the ocean and his rhythm.
Above everything, Spirit of Surfing is Freedom.

  1. Is surfing a lifestyle for you?

Surfing is a true life style. A surfer always finds a way to go surfing went the conditions are goods. That is what makes a surfer different from other. All my life is turned to the Ocean and the surf. I own nothing except few surfboards. But I am rich of experiences and souvenirs. I am free to go where ever I want in all over the world and that makes me the happiest person in the world.

  1. Does travelling play a certain role for you?

Travelling is a extremely important for me.
I like the search of the wave uncrowed and perfect. It gives you the amazing feeling of freedom and the opportunity to meet new people from all over the world. Through this, you realize as much the world is beautiful and various, you learn about yourself and the world where you are living in. That is as well an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me. Being in a foreign countries bring me in a state of excitement very creative.

  1. How come that you choose that life style?

As far as I remember, I always wish an eventful life. I wanted it different, full of adventure, happiness, fun and eventful journey. I always wanted travelling and see the world. I am born close to the sea and always spend a lot of time in it. Since I surf, I can consider my life far away from the ocean and the waves. I always believe in my dreams and I thank God to give me the opportunity to meet the people who help me to realize them.

  1. What do you do for that living?

I try to do the best as I can.

  1. Why are you painting?

Since I am little, I always draw or paint. I love Art. I create to express myself, to communicate and to share with everyone who wants my experiences and my feelings.

  1. Can you describe your paintings?

All my series are different. The style depends of the place where they have been created. It does depend of what I wanted to bring out. In all my paintings, you can find dynamic and happiness, intense colours and curves. I think you can see generosity in the volume and the density you can find in them. Each painting has a story and each travels have their paintings. It is very interesting to see as much as a new culture, feelings and live experiences can influence my artwork.
I always do what I like and not what people expect to me.

What inspires you?

 My life experiences.

  1. Does the ocean have a great influence on your paintings?

Yes, of course. I always try to see the ocean from my studio and I surf almost everyday. So it does influence my paintings for sure.

  1. Lots of your paintings are very dynamic. How come?

I guess it is the way I live and the way I am.
Surfing is a very dynamic activity. I want people who are watching my paintings can feel the speed and the sensation of sliding on a glassy wall of water. I want they can be aware of the power and the energy of the ocean.
I wish a non surfer person can understand the feeling of surfing. For that, I use movements, perspectives, intensives colours and contrast to provide dynamic. The “Salt people Water” series are a perfect example.

  1. Why do you prefer intensive colours?

Intensives colours are very energetic. When it is what I want to express in a paintings, I use them. Intensive colours are happiness and excitement. It’s what I fell when I paint. Sometime I use pastels colours as well like in “Katiet” and in “Spiral”. I use gouache and Indian ink on a traditional rice paper bought in a small shop in Bali. I painted it in the Mentawais’ Island, in a very small village. Nature was surrounded me. Most of things are building with what the nature can produce. I wanted to reflect that in this painting, so use different sort of green, ochre and white. “Katiet” tells our life on the map of the peninsula where we stayed during 4 weeks with the native people. “Spiral” tells the story of our trip to reach the surf spot of lance’s right. It was me most amazing trip I have done until now. It happens I use pasting and mixed media to create more fun on a painting like “Hawaii’, “VW and Tiare” and “Charge!”

  1. Is there a style of art you prefer?

I love all kind of Art from all over the world, present or past. I think you can learn from everything.

  1. Are your paintings an expression of your feelings?

Feelings are entire part of my inspiration.

  1. Is there an evolution in your paintings?

Evolution is my priority. I can’t do the same think year after year like some artists do. Searching is a big part of my pleasure.

  1. Do your paintings reflect a special part of the world?

Every part of the world I visited is reflected in my paintings. Last year, I was in French Caribbean Island named Guadeloupe. I was so happy to be there with all my friends. The ambiance was so cool and the surf was great. Caribbean culture is very colourful. Nature is very generous in beautiful colours as well: lagoon are turquoise, sky is always bleu, flowers everywhere. Woodhouse, traditional clothes, boats, etc used intenses colours. I wanted to put all this together. So I have done this series of paintings I called “Retroshine”. (Pictures: “La fille des dunes” 125 x 100 cm acrylic on wood, « surf and dance » 100 x 100 cm Acrylic on wood and «camp on the beach”50 x 20 cm aquarelle on paper) This year, life was easy and bubbly like a glass of champagne!
